Screwed lever ball valves—often referred to as threaded ball valves—are the most popular choice for small-to-medium piping setups requiring reliable fluid isolation. These valves feature female or male threaded ends that screw directly onto your pipework, providing a highly secure, mechanical joint without the need for welding or specialized tools.
Because of their compact footprint and straightforward installation, screwed ball valves are the staple solution for domestic plumbing, commercial HVAC, and compact industrial skid manufacturing.
Key Body Configurations
Threaded ball valves are typically manufactured in three distinct body styles, allowing you to balance budget, maintenance needs, and space:
- 1-Piece Body: Features a reduced bore design inside a single, solid cast piece. This is the most economical and compact option, but it cannot be taken apart for maintenance or seal replacement.
- 2-Piece Body: The industry standard for general utility lines. Composed of a main body and an end piece, it offers a full-bore flow path and reliable bi-directional sealing.
- 3-Piece Body: Built for high-performance and demanding industrial processes. The centre section containing the ball and seals can be swung out or removed by loosening the tie bolts. This allows for rapid in-line seal replacements without disrupting the surrounding pipework.
Key Technical Specifications
- Thread Types: Available in BSP (British Standard Pipe) or NPT (National Pipe Thread) configurations to match regional piping standards.
- Pressure Ratings: Exceptionally resilient for their size, with small-diameter brass and stainless steel models frequently rated from PN16 up to PN63 / 1000 PSI.
- Full vs. Reduced Bore: Most 2-piece and 3-piece models offer a full bore, meaning the internal diameter matches your pipe exactly to guarantee maximum flow rate and zero restriction.
