Also known as a cotter pin,a split pin is used to tightly secure fasteners, such as clevis pins and castellated nuts.




They are designed to be inserted through a hole and bent to secure in place and are usually made from wire which is semi-circular in cross section.




Lengths are measured from the end of the tines to the point the base of the eyelet hole contacts with the host material.




Recommended for single use, as bending fatigue can cause failure if re-used.
