BRASS

Brass hex full nuts are the standard choice for applications requiring high electrical conductivity, non-magnetic properties, or a decorative finish.

Manufactured to DIN 934 standards, these nuts are naturally corrosion-resistant, making them ideal for both plumbing and electrical environments.

Performance Characteristics

  • Electrical Conductivity: Brass is an excellent conductor, which is why these nuts are used almost exclusively for terminal blocks, grounding straps, and switchgear.
  • Non-Magnetic: Unlike steel, brass won't interfere with sensitive electronic equipment or magnetic sensors.
  • Corrosion Resistance: Brass develops a protective patina over time. It is highly resistant to water and many chemicals, though it can be susceptible to "dezincification" in certain harsh industrial or high-salt environments.
  • Aesthetics: Often used in furniture, architectural hardware, and restoration projects where a "gold" finish is preferred over the industrial look of steel.

Common Uses

  • Electrical: Securing wires to studs in junction boxes and battery terminals.
  • Plumbing: Fastening taps and waste fittings where moisture is constant.
  • Model Engineering: Used in steam engines and heritage machinery for a period-correct appearance.
