EN 10255 pipe is a specification for non-alloy steel tubes suitable for threading and welding. Formerly known as BS 1387, these pipes are widely used for a variety of applications, including the conveyance of fluids and structural purposes.

Key specifications

  • Material: Mild steel, typically grade S195T, which provides good strength and durability.
  • Series/Wall thickness: Available in different wall thicknesses to suit pressure requirements:
    • Medium (M) series
    • Heavy (H) series
  • Dimensions: Available in nominal bore sizes ranging from 1/2" to 6", with outside diameters from 21.3mm to 165.1mm.
  • End finishes: The standard specifies various options for tube ends:
    • Plain
    • Screwed and socketed (BSP)
    • Grooved
  • Coatings: Various surface finishes are available to provide corrosion resistance:
    • Self-colour
    • Red oxide primer painted
    • Hot-dip galvanised
