BINX NUT

Binx nuts are a type of all-metal, prevailing torque self-locking nut characterized by two slots cut into the side of the nut body.

These slots create "cantilevers" that are deflected inwards and downwards, causing the nut to grip both the effective diameter and the pitch of the bolt thread.

Key Features and Benefits

  • Low Profile: One of the biggest advantages of a Binx nut is that its total height is no greater than a standard non-locking nut. This makes them ideal for restricted spaces where a taller locknut (like a Nyloc or Philidas) wouldn't fit.
  • All-Metal Construction: Because they lack plastic inserts, they can be used in high-temperature environments and remain unaffected by oil, grease, or other contaminants.
  • Reusable: The cantilever design allows the nut to be reused multiple times while maintaining its locking torque.
  • Dual Locking Action: The deflected sections apply controlled pressure to the bolt threads, creating constant friction that resists loosening from heavy vibration.
